Countless restaurants have already signed up to participate in the charity scheme that sees an optional £1 donation tacked onto customers' bills.
The StreetSmart campaign first launched 25 years ago and has raised more than £12 million since 1998. It's a simple but effective concept – participating restaurants add a voluntary £1 charge to customers' bills during November and December. These donations are then passed on to StreetSmart at the end of the month, with the organisation then redistributing them to reputable charities for the homeless. Meanwhile, all of StreetSmart's expenses are covered by sponsors, ensuring that all the funds raised go towards charity.
The nationwide campaign sees restaurants of all shapes and sizes participating, from fine dining bastions such as Alex Dilling at Hotel Café Royal and Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester to more down-to-earth spots such as Bancone or Brother Marcus.
The StreetSmart campaign launches on 1 November. If you're a restauranteur, you can still sign your establishment up here, while diners can find the full list of participating UK restaurants here.
