Back in February we brought you news about the mysterious and sudden closure of Beigel Shop, the yellow-fronted bakery that's part of an infamous beigel rivalry. The news made national headlines, with a repossession order appearing on the shop's door but later being replaced with a note. However, on 24th June, the family behind the shop confirmed it'll be back in business this week.

A statement on Beigel Shop's Instagram account explains that the shop was closed due to long-standing family disputes about the building's ownership, along with family health struggles. The statement adds that the younger generation of the family will be stepping up to keep the iconic bakery going. A GoFundMe page with a target of £50,000 has also been set up. This will help with renovations, upgrading machinery, and affording their rent, which has now doubled.

Check out Beigel Shop's Instagram page to stay updated with the shop's re-opening.
