The Totally Thames Festival returns this September with a diverse range of events across London, celebrating the famous river and promoting environmental awareness.
This year's festival includes dance, music, film, mudlark events, walks, talks, foreshore clean-ups, and Thames cruises. The Thames Festival Trust has also launched a Seed Fund initiative, supporting emerging artists like Rambert dancer Aishwarya Raut and Willy Does, who presents a climate crisis cabaret-game show.
Additional highlights include "Here Lay Your Hearts," an audio journey exploring the history of the Winchester Geese, and a piano recital by Rob Hao at The Master Shipwright's House in Deptford. Def Creative will showcase a dance inspired by the Thames Barrier, while Elena Toponogova and Eleanor Penfold present a classical sound bath. For a more jovial atmosphere, don't miss Cod Choir's deep-sea fishermen perform terrible sea shanties and cheesy fish jokes. The Great River Race, a 21.6-mile river marathon from Millwall to Ham Lands, and Thames Day, featuring live entertainment and cruises on a classic Thames barge from 1925, are also key events, while kids will love Woodland Tribe, a fun play-build workshop which gives children the chance to build and play on a huge structure they have built themselves.
Totally Thames 2024 runs from 1st to 30th September. You can find out more about the programme on the festival website.
