The Wha Gwan Exhibition showcases the work of talented Mbaye, an artist a native from Senegal, who now resides in Agadir Morocco.

David Mills, the founder of Wha Gwan Beverages, encountered street traders selling art made from recycled beverage cans and bottles during his travels. Intrigued by the concept, Mills tracked down the artist, Mbaye, once he was back home from his travels and went on to commission artwork using waste from Wha Gwan's brand packaging.

Mills aimed to highlight the challenges migrants face in finding work in foreign countries and how they use their creativity to transform waste into art to sustain themselves. Additionally, he wanted to bring attention to the fact that these migrants often send money back home to support their families. Part of the sustainability conversation in the art is a mix of recycling goods, but more importantly they are articulating how migrants help to sustain themselves and extended family.

The Wha Gwan Exhibition at White City Warehouse will also welcome a number of new British artists who have created art based around the themes of sustainability, the Olympics, sports, community and culture. Each piece of art has its own amazing back story which begins with recycling/sustainability and then the creativity takes over, it's not to be missed. In the middle of struggle, imagination and creativity can lead you to the light!
