South-Eastern Mexican restaurant and Tequila bar Ixchel has launched what might be London's most decadent taco, available for the entire month of October.
The extravagant taco, crafted by Head Chef Ximena Gayosso, is a soft corn tortilla topped with a whole soft shell crab fried in a vodka batter, fresh scallop tartare, and Oscietra caviar. While you might want to visit to try the limited-edition dish, the rest of the menu is well worth trying, too. It brings Mexico's fresh, bold flavours to Chelsea through traditional plates of ceviche, tacos, tostadas, and larger sharing plates, which are ideal for groups. Highlights include smoky adobo short rib with pineapple salsa and a whole sea bream marinated in chilli sauce, served with a fresh herb salad and charred lemon vinaigrette.
There's also a hidden Tequila bar, which houses one of the largest collections of agave-based liquor in Europe, including premium tequilas and mezcals sourced directly from artisanal distilleries in Mexico.
Ixchel is open daily from 12:00 pm to midnight, with the kitchen closing at 10:30 pm. Don't miss the soft-shell crab taco, available only until October 31.
