Tate Modern is one of the most famous art galleries in the world. Sitting in an impressive building on the banks of the River Thames, it is free to visit. It focuses on collections of modern and contemporary art from around the world dating back to 1900, unlike its sister gallery Tate Britain which features contemporary and historic British art.

Good modern art gallery, worth a visit whatever your level of art knowledge. The permanent collection is very impressive and the temp shows are often very good too.

One of London's great galleries. The permanent collection is vast and you'll always find something you missed on a previous visit, and the temporary exhibits are often stunning.
