Crêpes have been around since 13th century Brittany, back when people weren't inclined to waste even the smallest amount of ingredients. Now, they're enjoyed all over the world and come in an assortment of different sweet and savoury flavours. There are plenty of places you can get your fill of France's favourite snack around the city, from crêpes served out of a truck to fancy sit-down Breton restaurants; here's our guide to crêperies and pancake houses in London.

Straight from Brittany
The crêpes and galettes served at Crêpes à la Carte are as authentically French as you're going to get in London. The organic ingredients are imported from Brittany, where both of the crêperie's owners are from, and everything is made from scratch. It's all served out of their cute vintage Peugeot J9, Brigitte, every Sunday at Victoria Park market, where they flip a range of tasty sweet and savoury treats, like the homemade apple compote with added cinnamon and galette with homemade chocolate sauce and banana.

One for the Nutella fiends
Crème de la Crêpe opened on the basis of three core principles: use quality ingredients, charge a fair price, and make sure the product tastes great, and they've done a pretty good job of that so far. Crêpes are the aim of the game here and come in an assortment of inventive flavours, such as Heinz baked beans, free-range egg and mature cheddar and Marmite-mayo, mature cheddar, sun-blushed tomatoes and rocket. Nutella fiends will love it here; they have a wide range of sweet crêpes, including Nutella and strawberries and the classic Nutella and banana.

La Crêperie de Hampstead is one of the most famous crêpe spots in the city, serving tasty, authentic French crêpes out of their cute truck next to the legendary King Williams IV pub. They have plenty of delicious options, like banana and butterscotch and maple and walnut. There's usually a pretty big queue, but it's definitely worth the wait.

A casual Dutch pancake house
This original London pancake house is the ideal spot for satisfying your crêpe craving without having to faff about and have a long, sit-down meal. Crêpes with basically any filling
Daria's family encouraged her to open her own crêperie back in 2017, and she now serves Chelsea residents a delicious menu of crêpes at her Fulham Road restaurant daily. They come with basically any filling you could possibly think of, such as all-day brekky, chestnut creme, raclette, four cheese and all the classics like banana and chocolate and butter and sugar. If you're dining with someone who isn't fussed about crêpes, they also serve pastries, waffles, gelato, salads and all-day egg dishes.

A taste of Brittany
It's all about authentic Breton cuisine at this French restaurant, Chez Lindsay. Of course, there are galettes on the menu since Brittany is one of the regions they were established in. They've got everything from the Au beurre - which is the pancake served simply with butter, so you get a taste of the delicious buckwheat without distraction. There's also oeuf fromage - egg and cheese, au lait ribot - buttermilk, and classic fromage - a galette filled with cheese. This is the sort of place you'd sit down to enjoy your meal rather than a grab-and-go situation.
