Lunches for people alone on Christmas Day in London

For many of us, Christmas is a time for coming together and celebrating with loved ones. If you can't be with friends or family this year, or you're choosing not to, it doesn't mean that you have to spend the day alone. Various venues around the capital put on a Christmas party for people who would otherwise be alone, giving everyone a chance to get out, socialise, and enjoy the day. Lunches for people who are alone at Christmas in London

The Alexandra

Taking care of the community

The Alexandra in Wimbledon is well-known for its Christmas parties – it's been putting this event on for years. Community is at the heart of this traditional pub and it runs a number of festive events. This includes a free Community Christmas party on 25th December for anyone who would otherwise be alone. All are welcome to this friendly pub.

Jacksons Lane

For older North Londoners

Highgate-based arts centre Jacksons Lane has been running a free celebration on Christmas Day for older lone adults for almost 50 years. Guests can enjoy a free meal and great company. Places need to be arranged in advance. Another option is volunteering to help run the party on the day, supporting people in need and joining the festive fun.

Rotary Christmas Day

Party for older Wandsworth residents

If you're aged 65 and over and live in the borough of Wandsworth, you're welcome at Rotary Christmas Day. This huge annual party is run by the Rotary Club and promises lots of fun for guests who are on their own. You'll get help with getting to the venue and will enjoy a delicious Christmas meal, fun entertainment, and a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Cummin Up

Have a Caribbean Christmas

Caribbean restaurant Cummin Up has been offering a free Christmas meal to people who are alone or otherwise in need since 2008, with the tradition set to continue this year. Taking place at 389 Lewisham High Street, you're welcome to drop by from 1-6pm to enjoy a tasty meal and a great community atmosphere.

215 Hackney

Join for coffee and cake

Admittedly it's not a full Christmas meal, but 215 Hackney is open on 25th December and welcoming people who might otherwise be alone. You can visit for free coffee and cake and also make a donation for Great Ormond Street Hospital. The venue is cosy and serves locally-sourced coffee and food.
