Alexandra Park & Palace
London’s beloved Alexandra Palace, affectionately nicknamed “Ally Pally”, is an iconic entertainment venue set atop a hill in Alexandra Park. The grandiose Victorian complex was built in the second half of the 19th century as a theatre. Fifty years later, it housed the BBC's first regular public television service, making it one of the birthplaces of television as we know it.
Today, Alexandra Palace is again open to the public, providing a space for entertainment, sports and cultural events and activities. The vintage venue with a vibrant aesthetic encompasses a number of areas of varying sizes that are suitable for concerts, stage productions, corporate events, banquets and more, from the 10,000+ capacity Great Hall to smaller rooms such as the Palace Suite for up to 400 people. Alexandra Palace, itself an instantly recognisable landmark, also boasts a vast outdoor terrace with panoramic views of the city.
The Palace’s retro atmosphere and stately appearance have made it a popular choice for concerts, with major acts such as Bloc Party and Michael Kiwanuka regularly playing here. The surrounding parkland is also convenient for hosting festivals or large-scale outdoor concerts.
Ally Pally is also known for its year-round ice rink, where you can learn to skate, join a hockey league or come party on ice disco nights. There are other sports and family-friendly activities at the venue as well, for example golf in the park, a boating lake, a skatepark and more. Numerous cafés are scattered around the area as well, providing everything from small bites and coffee to pizza and cocktails.
