After her father's stroke in September 2015, Manchester-based artist Jen Orpin became deeply familiar with the journey to visit him at a Surrey hospital. Following his passing, these motorways became entangled with emotion and nostalgia, inspiring her to capture them in a series of meaningful paintings.

Over the years, she has created nearly 800 paintings of bridges across Britain and beyond, which can be seen in her new free solo exhibition, 'We Left Nothing Behind,' at Union Gallery from 2 November to 7 December 2024.

The collection features a new series of 13 paintings focused outside of London, including five pieces inspired by bridges in Los Angeles.

The exhibition runs from 2 November to 7 December and is free to visit.
