There’s good news and bad news for fans of Greek cooking in London. Popular Whitechapel restaurant Hungry Donkey has sadly now shut its doors permanently after more than seven years on the food scene. If you’re a fan and you’re feeling a little broken-hearted right now, there’s no need to despair. In January 2023 the team are launching a new restaurant, Vori Greek Kitchen, delivering authentic flavours and plenty of passion.

The new restaurant is set to open in Holland Park and many of the same staff from Hungry Donkey will be on the team. The menu focuses on rustic Greek dishes as well as Greek wines, creative cocktails, and beers from Greek microbreweries. Charcoal ovens will be in heavy use here and you can expect tempting plates like classic spanakopita, courgette fritters, and grilled sea bass.

Named after a beach on the island of Andros, Vori Greek Kitchen takes inspiration from the island’s dramatic landscape, with a colour palette of blue, white, olive green, and terracotta. When you need your fix of Greek food and culture, this new restaurant for 2023 is sure to deliver.
