In a world gone mad for viral pastries and crossbreeding croissants with everything – seriously, there's a hybrid croissant/döner abomination called a cröner roaming the continent now, and if that doesn't make you question where humanity went wrong, nothing will – it's hard for a humble Mars bar to stand out, but that's about to change.

All-day deep dish pizza joint Ria's in Notting Hill is taking things back to the old school with its August dessert special, combining two classic British faves in one delightfully OTT dessert. The Notting Hill pizzeria, no stranger to mining the depth of Scottish cuisine for inspiration thanks to its founder's roots, already offers haggis pops as sides on its menu, but this next one takes the cake.

Throughout the month, they'll be serving a deep-fried Mars bar, but using Tennent's Lager for the batter. The Beer-Battered Deep-Fried Mars Bar, an insult to the whole concept of dietetics, features a crispy, golden exterior encasing a gooey, melted chocolate and caramel centre, accompanied by a generous serving of soft serve. In our opinion, this places is right up there with London's most indulgent desserts. Daily calorie intakes be damned, where do we sign up?!
