From 6 to 12 November, the world celebrates sherry, a fortified Spanish wine made from Andalusian white grapes and available in different styles. Many London bars and restaurants will be participating in the tenth anniversary of International Sherry Week, hosting all sorts of special events and experiences throughout the week. Here are some of the highlights.
- Famed Spanish chef José Pizarro will be hosting an exclusive Jamón carving masterclass, followed by a nine-course dinner with sherry pairing at his flagship restaurant Pizarro.
- BiBo by acclaimed chef Dani García will be serving their own take on the Old Fashioned cocktail, made with Carlos brandy, Oloroso sherry, and orange bitter.
- A number of establishments around the capital will be hosting sherry tasting events, including Ibérica's Farringdon and Victoria branches, Barrica, Gordon's Wine Bar, The Tapas Rooms, D Vine Cellars, Lea & Sandeman, and Unwined in Tooting.
- Other spots will be exploring sherries through food. Some of Pizarro's other venues will be pairing sherries with cold cuts, while Brindisa in Balham will be going the cheese route.
