However, this year, it's taking place on the day before Christmas Eve since the market doesn't operate on Sundays. This longstanding tradition has historically enabled the area to clear out excess stock before the Christmas closure, and it continues today, with meat joints being auctioned off at affordable prices to eager crowds.
