Opening early in 2024, Camille is a snug French bistro next to Borough Market, serving provincial French cuisine accompanied by fine wines.
Clare Lattin and Tom Hill, the founders of Soho wine bar and restaurant Ducksoup and Little Duck The Picklery, a kitchen specialising in fermentation, are launching a new restaurant in the new year. In collaboration with partner Ratnesh Bagdai and head chef Elliot Hashtroudi (formerly of St. John), they're opening Camille in Stoney Street in Southwark, taking over what used to be the Sons + Daughters sandwich shop.
With room for up to 40 diners and additional outdoor seating, weather permitting, Camille is going to be a cosy affair. Hashtroudi, inspired by provincial French cuisine and reimagining the founders' travels around France, is looking to take full advantage of Borough Market's fresh produce, using quality British ingredients in dishes such as tete de veau schnitzel and dandelion, cep-stuffed chicken wing, and a fennel and brown butter custard tart. The food will be accompanied by a wine list focused on low-intervention and biodynamic wines.
All in all, Camille is looking to be quite the elegant little spot for a bite when you're tired from hoofing it around the market. It's slated for opening in February 2024, with an exact date still TBD.
