The Perilla team, led by Chef-patron Ben Marks and restaurateur Matthew Emmerson, is set to unveil a new restaurant, Morchella, in Exmouth Market early next month.

The new Mediterranean venture will be led by award-winning Executive Chef Ben Marks (formerly of Noma) alongside “Great British Menu” finalist head chef Daniel Fletcher. They will both be joined by Matthew Emmerson, who will take the role of front of house.

The old space was originally a bank and will maintain many of its original characteristics, like the raw plaster, to give it a rustic feel. There will also be a central kitchen so you can see the chefs going about their business, as well as scattered tables and chairs all around.

As for the menu, food will be inspired by the Mediterranean diet, including lots of seasonal dishes from overseas and day boats in the UK. You can expect dishes like British octopus with parsley and garlic and Sicilian fish stew. There will also be an adjacent wine bar serving bottles from Newcomers and Dynamic Vines, plus more.

The restaurant is expected to open on 20 February 2024.
