The looming UK general election on 4th July means many things – fierce campaigning, party leaders ripping each other apart on TV, and the dissolution of Parliament. The ending of all business in the Houses of Parliament means great news for foodies in London too. The Peers' Dining Room, usually reserved exclusively for members of the House of Lords, is now open to the public for lunch.
Between 10th June and 3rd July, those of us who don't have a title like Lord or Baroness will be able to visit to sample seasonal small plates prepared with fine British ingredients, with drinks available too. Dishes to have recently been on the menu at the restaurant include Suffolk Baron Bigod cheese and Lincolnshire leek soufflé with confit leeks and House of Lords champagne sauce and poached Loch Duart salmon with crushed mint Jersey Royal potatoes, petit pois salsa, and Hollandaise sauce. Guests can also have a drink overlooking the Thames at the Peers' Guest Room Bar.
The restaurant will only be open to the public for a matter of weeks so you'd better be quick if you want to bag a table. Bookings are currently open now via Dish Cult.
