There are many different routes to opening a restaurant and there's about to be a new one that we can all watch courtesy of Channel 4. A new TV series will see professional chefs compete in tough challenges with the prize being the opportunity to open a new restaurant at The Langham in central London. It's understood that the new restaurant will be set up in what is currently the hotel's Palm Court eatery.
Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef will be led by Michel Roux Jr, who oversees the hotel's restaurants and bars. He'll be joined by fellow judges chef Mike Reid and pastry expert Ravneet Gill. The goal is to find a trailblazing chef to bring an exciting new concept to The Langham. The challenges that the competing chefs will face across six episodes are designed to test their skills in the kitchen as well as show whether they have what it takes to run an elite restaurant. Some of the challenges they'll face include creating an exclusive chef's table experience, running The Langham's busy lunch service, and putting on a lavish banquet.
Londoners can watch Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef from 8th June. If you're reading this from outside the UK, the show will be globally available on Netflix later on this year.
