Where to drink margaritas in London

Kol Mezcaleria

An inventive take on a classic

One of the hottest restaurants in town, Kol in Marylebone, doesn't cut corners when it comes to margaritas either. Served in the in-house Mezcaleria, Kol's take on the classic cocktail is made in line with the restaurant's ethos of championing Mexican spirits and using wild, seasonal British ingredients. The Kol margarita is made using Volcan Blanco for tequila and Montelobos Espadin for mezcal. There's no lime included, but the team uses an alternative type of acidity, verjus and yuzu sake, to create the same sour taste.

Little Lines

Margs straight from the bottle

At Little Lines, the approach to cocktails is a bit different from the norm. This sophisticated bar in the Rixo flagship store specialises in pre-mixed bottled cocktails, guaranteeing consistency in every drink. Their signature spicy Tommy's margarita is made with Los Arcos, agave, lime, and chilli. Little Lines is a relaxed venue that doesn't require reservations, with decor that exudes a classic old-world glamour.

It's London's first agaveria and is the creator of the Mirror Margarita, which has clocked up several awards since its creation. They serve a selection of eclectic margarita varieties, like the best-selling Honeybee, which uses Don Julio Blanco Tequila or Banhez Mezcal and shakes it up with Hacha's house sour mix and chipotle honey.

This late-night Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar in Stokey is the ultimate epicentre for mouth-watering Mexican dishes and some of the best margs in the city. The food alone is a good enough reason to visit, but you canā€™t swing by without trying their Margarita a la Diabla, which is supposedly the hottest margarita in the UK, made with their house habanero sauce. Shoreditch House

Spice up your life with a picante

We couldn't write a roundup of the best margaritas in London without including the OG of the spicy margarita world, the humble picante, which aptly translates to 'spicy' in Spanish. Now, we understand that there's a divide between people who love the Soho House chain and people who detest it, but one thing most avid marg fans will probably agree on is that their spicy marg is pretty damn good. It's just the right amount of sweet and spicy with just enough ice that it doesn't water your drink down. We'll take ten, please.
