Often referred to as Neasden Temple, you probably won't believe you're still in London when you see BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. This temple is a traditional Hindu place of worship, constructed according to ancient architectural texts with no steel used. Set in equally intricate grounds, the structure is 70 feet high and made entirely from stone. Whether you're keen to learn more about Hinduism or you're just fascinated by architecture, this is an intriguing place to visit.

This elaborate building was constructed between 1992 and 1995, funded by the Hindu community. As well as the main temple, there's a cultural centre on-site that's a venue for community activities. BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is an active place of worship and religious services take place every day. Visitors from all backgrounds are welcome to come and admire the architecture and learn more about Hinduism. You can join a free-of-charge guided tour for a more in-depth experience or take a look at the permanent 'Understanding Hinduism' exhibition.

In addition to the spectacular architecture and grounds, you can experience a Hindu prayer ceremony and see sacred images and symbols. Group visits, including school groups, are welcome, and you can complete the visit at the temple's restaurant and shop. Sample authentic vegetarian Indian food or buy some tasty ingredients to take home with you. If you're looking for an activity unlike anything else in London, visiting the temple might be a fascinating experience.
