SOAS Library
Part of the renowned School of Oriental and African Studies within the University of London, SOAS Library is one of the most important academic libraries in the world for the study of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. It's also one of just five National Research Libraries in the UK. Naturally, it's heavily populated by students but members of the public are also allowed to join the library. You can make use of the library on an ongoing basis or visit just for one day. Everyone is welcome here.
The vast space covers several floors and is packed full of resources as well as independent study areas. The library's collection is comprehensive, including 1.5 million books, periodicals, and audiovisual materials, as well as rare books and special collections of manuscripts and archives. SOAS Library also has an ever-expanding collection of digital resources. Everything focuses on Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, but there are resources in around 400 different languages available here. Subjects covered include art and architecture, law, history, music, politics, and religion.
Located at the university's campus in Russell Square, the library has an industrial and utilitarian look. Large windows ensure that lots of light floods in.
