Gothenburg's best rooftop bars

If you're in the mood to make a night of it, the terrace regularly hosts summer clubs with various artists and live DJs.

On the fourteenth and top floor of the Scandic Göteborg Central you'll find Above, Gothenburg's highest roofbar. Influences come from Miami and the Caribbean, and the result is a restaurant and bar where exciting flavours meet music, a relaxed atmosphere and nice vibes. If you want to eat indoors you can book a table, if you want to sit outdoors and drink a cocktail with views over the river you can just drop by.

TaKeT, the rooftop bar at the top of the Comfort Hotel, boasts panoramic views over the harbour and the sea. According to The Rooftop Guide the bar isn't just fun and lively, it's actually one of the best rooftop bars in the world. Their opening hours aren't completely regular, so it's best to keep an eye on their Instagram to ensure you don't miss out on a great night out. 

Fancy enjoying spectacular views over Avenyn while sipping a glass of bubbles or a cocktail? Head up to the top of the building that houses the Hotel Bellora and you'll find their rooftop bar. Hang out from early afternoon until late evening and take in the laid-back atmosphere, great music and views. Dogs are welcome here, but bear in mind the noise levels can be quite high.

Eight floors up, Mei Rose takes you on a gastronomic journey through China, with sharing dishes and a wide range of drinks such as Asian cocktails and the Chinese spirit, baijiu. Gather your friends all year round and enjoy the magnificent view of Liseberg and the city's skyline in an urban atmosphere. During the summer months, the rooftop bar is further extended with a large terrace.

High up at the top of Riverside Hotel, with views over the waters of the Göta river, Cuckoo on The Roof welcomes guests to hangout in the sun in urban surroundings. The bar mixes up their own cocktail creations; there's also plenty of wine and bubbles. Lean back in one of the large sun loungers reminiscent of a Mediterranean beach club and relax to some DJ-spun tunes. 

High up in the sky you'll find Jacy'z award-winning rooftop terrace, with an atmosphere reminiscent of a glamorous pool party in LA. Chill in the rooftop bar or book a sun lounger by the pool and sip on cocktails under the open sky. The rooftop terrace is open weather permitting.

This sun-drenched rooftop bar is at the top of Hotel Odin in central Gothenburg. Just a short walk from the Central railway station, head up and enjoy medium-dized dishes, cocktails, socialising and nice vibes. Odins Tak is open during the summer months.

Take the elevator up to the twelfth floor of the Hotel Riverton and cruise into View for a meal or award-winning cocktail with spectacular views over the entrance to Gothenburg harbour. Everyone's welcome, whether you're a hotel guest or not. The proximity to the sea is reflected in the menu, where selected West Coast ingredients take centre stage.

Just a hop and skip from Liseberg amusement park, you'll find the Liseberg Grand Curiosa hotel, whose rooftop bar takes guests on a journey through a neon-lit China. The restaurant serves up flavour bombs in the form of Asian grilled dishes and exciting cocktails - all with stunning views over Liseberg and Gothenburg. 

Take a seat among the leafy olive and lemons trees at the top of the eccentric boutique hotel Dorsia and enjoy a delicious hotel breakfast as well as dishes from the restaurant's à la carte menu. They're open every day of the week - if the weather turns bad there are small rooms you can head into. 

Skanshof, housed in a former bank building, serves a menu based around fish and shelllfish - as well as meat and vegetarian dishes. With views over the Skansen Kronan fortress, Skanshof is spread out over several floors with an outdoor dining area on the pavement, a balcony and a rooftop terrace with a bar. From the rooftop terrace, steps lead down to Skanshof park, which has even more seats.

Take the elevator eleven floors up in The Pier hotel to the Rooftop Bar, where the views stretch over the waters of Lindholmen all the way to Älvsborg bridge. They take drinks very seriously here, with a cocktail menu that's constantly updated with innovative creations. Admire the panoramic views and sip on something summery made with ingredients such as lychee or yuzu.
