It took them several years of experimentation, and the result is a menu with both classic and innovative flavours.

Robb is run by the couple Karl and Linnea Robb Kaardal, who serve up Neapolitan pizzas and hand-selected wines with a passion for Italian food and drinks culture. The menu includes a couple of carefully selected traditional style pizzas, as well as a regularly-changing guest pizza and as a couple of small dishes and dessert. Eat on site on Mariagatan or order your pizza to take away. 

From the wood-fired oven at the restaurant with the cute name Dubbelhakan ("Double chin"), come crispy, flavourful pizzas galore. Their aim is to create pizzas with flavour combinations that dare to go beyond the traditional. Pizzas are best washed down with small-scale produced wines of all kinds. The menu also features small plates and snacks such as cold cuts, cheeses, and so on.

Get your fill of favourite Italian dishes at Magazzino. They use specially-imported flour from Naples and slowly prove their sourdough bases to achieve the perfect flavour and texture. Choose from toppings including cherry tomatoes, parma ham, aubergine and Italian pork belly.

At the boutique hotel Bellora's restaurant, you can enjoy Sicilian gourmet pizzas in various styles, baked from sourdough. The menu includes their luxurious pizza Bellora, topped with crème fraiche and bleak roe.

Deg means dough in Swedish and, as the name suggests, dough plays a starring role here. Their modest ambition is to create the perfect pizza, and to achieve this goal they experiment with different ingredients to create exciting new combinations and flavours. Fun cocktails, wine and beer are served alongside the pizza. The premises have a charming 70s-style vibe - inspired by the decade pizza first came to Sweden.

This relaxed neighbourhood restaurant keeps things no-frills and fuss-free, simply serving what the chefs themselves like. The menu lists a wide range of Italian classics, including a few pizzas with music-themed names.

The guys behind Mela have taken their vision of authentic pizza from food truck to restaurant on Tritongatan. Here, Neapolitan pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven and topped with both classic and slightly more innovative ingredients. Come here for an Italian-style post-work drink, or drop in for a tasty lunch.

Who knew you could gather together so many hipster-trendy elements under one roof (or rather two roofs - since 2018 there have been two branches)? As the name suggests, Brewers Beer Bar has chosen to focus on beer from microbreweries, both local and international. Alongside beer, they serve pizzas in various exciting guises, baked using sourdough. Who can resist?

The atmosphere at this hole-in-the-wall is a little like wandering into a local joint on a tucked-away backstreet in Rome. The menu is short and changes daily depending on the mood and seasonal ingredients.

Do you prefer pizza with a really thin base? Then Gaetanos might just become your new favourite – the restaurant is known for serving what might just be Gothenburg's crispiest pizza. The toppings consist of classic Italian ingredients such as tomato sauce, mozzarella, and other delicious items, along with perhaps the most important ingredient of all: a generous dose of passion. The pizza is perfect for take away, but if you dine in, you can round off your meal with the house's homemade tiramisu, which is also worth a visit on its own.

They serve piping-hot pizzas direct from their wood-fired oven at lunch and dinner. Just as in Naples, top-quality ingredients take centre stage.

This little Italian is slightly tucked away, but still in the heart of the Linné neighbourhood. Authentic Italian food is the name of the game here, with food made according to recipes that have been in the Italian owners' families for generations. Their pizzas are ultra thin, baked in a wood-fired oven and made using top-quality ingredients.

Innovative and successful pizza concept which now has several branches. Drop by no matter how hungry you are - pizzas are made in three different sizes and with masses of different toppings. At their Linné restaurant they also serve beer and wine.

As the name suggests, crispiness is the name of the game at Spröd. They serve thin, crispy pizzas and other crunchy dishes such as wraps, plates and salads. The pizzeria is in Masthugget and is run by an experienced pizzaiolo who has been running a pizzeria since the 90s.

Accompany your pizza with a really good beer; the range of beers here is one of the best in Gothenburg. Beerista has a classic gastropub feel and pizza-wise they serve both classic pizzas as well as more unexpected toppings, such as chicken with barbeque sauce. The idea is to serve good pub grub in laid-back surroundings, just like in an English gastropub. 

Pizza galore with every imaginable topping, baked with or without sourdough, and with sides such as mozzarella sticks, hot wings and fries, are the order of the day at Pizzeria Gambero. There's something here to suit all tastes, and you can also top up your pizza with a double base, extra toppings and even more cheese.

Underground Golf Club offers a complete concept with food, drink and “crazy golf” – that is to say, minigolf in nightclub-like surroundings. Start or finish your game with a freshly baked pizza from the wood-fired oven, which you can enjoy among velvet furniture, chandeliers and feather lamps in the elegant restaurant area.

Moreno is the Italian word for "dark", and refers to the fact that the pizzas here are baked a little longer in a smoky, extra-hot wood oven, to get a really crispy base and flavours that are highlighted by the smokiness. Moreno is housed in a former cinema building, and with no less than 1,560 seats, it's said to be the world's largest pizzeria.

This laid-back trattoria began delivering authentic Italian flavours to Gothenburg more than 20 years ago. Apparently they were the first in the city to start using mozzarella on their pizzas. If you still have room after your pizza, tiramisu is always a good way to round off your dinner.

Da Matteo isn't just known for its own-roasted, award-winning coffee, sourdough bakery or stylish interiors. You can also come here to enjoy a slice of pizza and a refreshing lemonade in the sunshine.

Family-owned Tuggets Pizzeria is a simple establishment on Södra Vägen, where you can enjoy both lunch and dinner at reasonable prices. The menu features everything you would expect at a classic Swedish pizzeria, including burgers, kebab dishes, and pizzas in a wide variety of options.

Bennys serves pizza just like in New York: in large slices with crisp edges and a thin base. Pizzas are also topped with parmesan and olive oil just before serving. Pair your food with refreshing drinks and beers on tap; the atmosphere is often enlivened with DJs and quiz nights.

Regulars and new visitors alike come to Il Gambero at Storgatan 11 for the great food as well as the unpretentious atmosphere. The kitchen serves up Italian home cooking using fresh ingredients cooked with, according to the owners, plenty of temperament and passion.

This restaurant is as close to the edge of the harbour as you can get, with fantastic views over the entrance to Gothenburg harbour. The kitchen works with flavours from all over Italy and their pizzas are generously topped and smell delicious when served straight from the oven.
