It’s been less than a week since we reported on the struggles of the critically acclaimed Nigerian tapas spot Chuku’s in Tottenham, which launched the Chuku’s Six Week Charge hoping to secure 600 bookings within six weeks to ensure it has the funds to keep going into 2023. Today, we’re happy to report the restaurant has not only reached its goal, but absolutely smashed it.

Instead of six weeks, it took only six days for Chuku’s to get more than the requisite 600 bookings, with the number topping 680 as of Friday, November 4. As revealed by the sibling founders in a joyful Instagram Live, the incredible support was accompanied by an immense show of love from the community. This includes an enthusiastic patron who stumped for the restaurant by promising to cover the meal of anyone who eats there and doesn’t like the food. In short, give yourself a hand, London, you’ve done good this week.

Chuku’s founders did point out that just because their immediate issues have been solved, that doesn’t mean other independent eateries aren’t still struggling as well, so make sure to go out and support them if you can.
