Sure, you like burgers, but have you ever eaten a Michelin-starred burger? On 13th October you can if you head down to the Covent Garden location of US fast food giant Shake Shack. The restaurant is linking up with Ikoyi, the double Michelin-starred restaurant, to create a unique burger full of original flavours.
Ikoyi is an unusual London restaurant that takes inspiration from West African spices and flavours but is clear in its mission to serve its own cuisine that nowhere else can replicate. It's giving Shake Shack a chance to share in these flavours though, with a collaboration burger and fries available for one day with only 300 portions up for grabs.
If you're lucky enough to get your jaws around the Ikoyi Burger, you'll get all the goodness of a classic Shake Shack cheeseburger enhanced with deep-fried buffalo sweetbreads, fermented scotch bonnet relish, Efo spice emulsion, and grilled negi onions. The whole thing is served on a toasted potato bun with pumpkin seed miso butter. Added to that, the restaurant will be serving its signature crinkle-cut fries sprinkled with Ikoyi's peppercorn blend and topped off with a dark beer fondue infused with lemon thyme, garlic, and Penja peppercorns. The burger is an homage to one of Ikoyi's key dishes and all of the proceeds from the special items will be donated to City Harvest, a charity that collects and redistributes food to the hungriest Londoners.
Get over to Shake Shack Covent Garden on 13th October for the Ikoyi x Shake Shack menu, available from 12pm until all 300 sell out.
