London can't get enough of Big Mamma

Hot on the heels of its latest dining palace, the in-demand Jacuzzi in Kensington, Big Mamma Group has announced a new opening.

In May, Big Mamma Group, known for its lavish, over-the-top Italian restaurants such as Gloria, Ave Mario and Circolo Popolare, will be adding to its ranks with Carlotta in Marylebone. Though the group is promising the new venue will be its most intimate one so far, details such as a ruby-red terrace, a skylit dining room, leather furniture, a Venetian-inspired marble bar, golden drapes, and an “Eighties midnight blue velvet paradise” dining area in the basement ensure that the Big Mamma touch – and social media savvy – is still very much present.

Of course, the menu will feature indulgent Italian cuisine, this time focused on Neapolitan and Sicilian classics with American inflections, particularly when it comes to the grilled delicacies on offer. Rose veal tartare, penne alla vodka with Cornish crab, pasta alfredo and other Italian favourites will be available as well, along with cocktails, oversized bottles of Barolo wine, and a selection of top-notch whiskeys.

They haven't forgotten about a memorable dessert, either. A ten-tiered chocolate fudge cake will be entering the Big Mamma pantheon of landmark decadence, joining the likes of Ave Mario's Gelato Tower and Jacuzzi's Chocolate Fondue.

Carlotta is set to open on Marylebone High Street in May, with the exact launch date still to be announced.
