Soon you can get a taste of Palestine without leaving Notting Hill

If you’re always looking to expand your culinary horizons, new restaurant Akub in Notting Hill is bound to tempt you. Opening in November, Akub is the first UK venue from famed Franco-Palestinian chef Fadi Kattan. Having grown up in Bethlehem, Kattan is one of the leading authorities on modern Palestinian cooking, opening his first restaurant in Bethlehem in 2015. He has also been a pioneer of food tours in the region.

Plans for Akub have been developing since April and now it’s almost ready to open to the public. The intimate eatery will have space for 68 diners, divided over two levels with an inner courtyard. The colour scheme of earthy tones is designed to evoke the Palestinian landscape, with vintage keys displayed on the walls and tableware sourced from a Palestinian ceramicist.

When it comes to the food, diners can expect sustainable Palestinian produce and a menu of classic dishes. Akub will serve a mix of small and large plates and salads, with tempting options like vine leaves stuffed with skate, cured sea bream, and a signature focaccia bread, as well as chocolate cake and traditional desserts. Guests will also be able to sample drinks from Palestine, including classic and natural wines, beer, and spirits. If you want to discover a new cuisine or get a fresh take on Middle Eastern cooking, Akub is going to bring new tastes to the London food scene.
