The annual Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list is out and it's a doozy, with a new top pub in the country and no fewer than eight of London's finest making it in, including one in the Top 10.
In order to build the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list, hundreds of the nation's top foodies and hospitality experts, including food writers, chefs, gastropub operators and other members of the industry, cast their votes. This year, they smiled kindly upon last year's runner-up, the idyllic Parkers Arms in Lancashire. After slowly but surely climbing the ranks over the past years, the gastropub, run by chef-patron Stosie Madi and her business partner Kathy Smith, has finally claimed the coveted top spot.
As for London, no fewer than eight of the capital's gastropubs made it onto the list, with the The Red Lion and Sun in Highgate ranked the highest, in tenth place. Islington's The Baring, meanwhile, is this year's highest-ranked newcomer, having opened only in August last year. See below for the full list of London's champions on the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list for 2023:
