Recently we told you about how London restaurants had fared when the 51-100 List from The World's 50 Best Restaurants awards was released. The final awards ceremony took place in Las Vegas on 5th June, unveiling the top 50 restaurants in the world, as well as presenting individual awards to impressive venues. Restaurants in locations as diverse at Copenhagen, Cape Town, Mexico City, and Dubai all featured on the Top 50 list, including two venues based right here in London.
London's highest-ranking entry was Michelin-starred Mexican restaurant Kol, which came in at number 17. It entered the ratings last year for the first time, reaching position 23. This restaurant was noted for the distinctive British nuance that it gives to Mexican cuisine, as well as its ever-evolving menu and great quality cocktails.
Ikoyi, another Michelin-starred restaurant that strives to invent a cuisine that's entirely its own, also made the cut and came in at number 42. Ikoyi commanded attention for its creative cuisine that defies categorisation, plus the quality and subtlety of the restaurant's service. You can check out the complete top 100 rankings and find out more about all of the restaurants on the list on The World's 50 Best Restaurants website.
