Easter weekend is from 18 to 21 April this year and it's rapidly approaching. Some prefer to observe in a traditional way whilst for others the four-day weekend is an excuse for a mammoth party. On 19 April you can check out the Horniman Spring Fair at the Horniman Museum in South London. This popular museum has activities for every age group and there's lots going on at the fair. Make your own chocolate egg

On April 19, Theo Randall at the InterContinental is hosting an exclusive Easter chocolate workshop for children. Randall and his pastry chef Radoslav Georgiev will teach kids the art of chocolate decoration and chocolate piping techniques, guiding them as they make their their own Italian-inspired Easter egg, complete with a surprise toy inside. Afterwards, the whole family can enjoy a three-course lunch at the Italian restaurant.

Head out on a Big Egg Hunt

Battersea's iconic brick landmark is hosting a bunch of different Easter-theemd events. In the lead-up to the big weekend, visitors can admire 22 large-scale egg sculptures placed both inside and outside the Power Station as part of The Big Egg Hunt, a free city-wide art trail supporting the Elephant Family charity. Then on Easter weekend there's a special chocolate market, arts and crafts workshops, and other special deals to be found at the Station's retailers.

Trafalgar Square

Watch the Easter story unfold

Head to Trafalgar Square on Good Friday for a live retelling of the Easter story with a cast of 100 actors. This annual performance attracts crowds of thousands and is free to attend. It tells the story of the arrest, trial, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus, with screens around the square so you get a great view. Two performances take place on the day.

London Zoo

Easter family fun

There's Easter fun at ZSL London Zoo this year. As well as meeting all of the zoo's animal residents, you can join a fun Easter egg trail for the whole family and participate in Easter-themed craft activities. Whilst you're here, you can also see a veritable Noah's Ark of creatures, ranging from ferocious big cats to otters and penguins.

Westminster Abbey

London's famous church

Join an Easter service at world-famous Westminster Abbey, the site of royal funerals, weddings, and coronations. Services are running throughout the weekend at this gothic church and everyone is welcome. Alternatively, on 15 April you can join an Easter concert for Holy Week, with The Choir of Westminster Abbey performing music by Bach.

The Regent's Park

Grab your running shoes

If you need to burn off all that chocolate,  then head to Regent's Park on Easter Monday. The park is home to the annual Easter 10k race, which also includes an adults' fun race and a race for the kids. You'll pass by some of the park's most famous sights, including London Zoo, and get Easter goodies and an Easter-themed medal at the end.

Animals, events, and Easter eggs

Located in the park, Battersea Park Children's Zoo lets you get up close with creatures from parrots to pigs to lemurs. It's particularly popular with little ones and is a fun family day out. Exciting things are happening here at Easter, including face painting, Easter-themed crafts and games, and an Easter trail where you're rewarded with a prize.

Halfway to Heaven

Lively Easter cabarets

Cabaret bar and LGBTQIA+ venue Halfway to Heaven has been open for more than 30 years. This bustling spot lays on loads of entertainment including cabaret shows, live music, and drag performances. There's a packed programme of events over the Easter weekend with shows, music, and a full day of cabaret on Saturday.

Celebrate Easter with a refined afternoon tea at luxury hotel The Montague on the Gardens. Enjoy afternoon tea in the bar or overlooking the peaceful gardens. Hunting for gold bunnies

Best-known as the home of Henry VIII, Hampton Court Palace is still owned by the monarchy and you're welcome to visit the building and grounds. From 29 March to Easter weekend, there's a Lindt Gold Bunny hunt where you'll uncover fascinating stories about the palace. Finish the trail and get a chocolatey reward at the end.

Greenwich Market

Fun Easter workshops

Greenwich Market is hosting different workshops all weekend. You can enjoy all the great market stalls and shops whilst kids craft Easter decorations, get their face painted, and enjoy some delicious chocolate from the market traders. It's a fun day out for the entire family.

Sea Life

Learning about marine life

Sea Life London Aquarium is hosting a special 'Turtle-y Terrific' event from 5 to 21 April, featuring an engaging activity trail, interactive displays, and a conservation zone aimed at educating young visitors about marine life. Guests can also visit the Ocean Tank to see resident green sea turtles, Boris and Dougie, up close. To round off the experience, families can enjoy meeting the interactive turtle puppet on show throughout the Easter break.

Shrek's Adventure!

Unlock the magic of Easter

This Easter, Shrek's Adventure! London is unveiling a brand-new activity zone for children, running from 5 to 23 April. Young visitors can explore the castle of Duloc, dress up in medieval gear for a royal photo moment, and take part in a fun game of donkey-themed horseshoes. It's a playful, Shrek-inspired experience designed to keep kids entertained over the Easter holidays.

The London Dungeon

A very scary Easter

The London Dungeon is unveiling its eerie new Cabinet of Curiosities show from 5 April, inspired by strange antique shops and peculiar collections. Guests will encounter Frith, a mystical shopkeeper who's been trading bizarre wares since 1567, ready to examine visitors' own unusual items. From haunted trinkets to cursed relics, a chilling array of objects awaits – though only the brave will uncover what's hidden for an Easter twist.

On Good Friday, families can enjoy the Little Artists Easter Trail at the Garden. Children can follow a self-guided creative trail, learning about local plants and wildlife while filling in an activity booklet. After the trail, little ones will receive a chocolate treat, join a craft workshop, try pond dipping, and refuel at the Physic Garden Café.

Easter with the bear himself

Families are invited to join the Easter fun at The Paddington Bear Experience from 31 March to 2 May. Young adventurers can take part in an Easter Egg Hunt through Windsor Gardens, using their own treasure map to search for hidden eggs. Those who complete the trail will be rewarded with a special sticker to mark their achievement.
