Where to watch fireworks in London on Bonfire Night 2024

The iconic hilltop entertainment venue Alexandra Palace is hosting a two-day fireworks festival in the lead-up to Bonfire Night. The so-called “Glastonbury of fireworks” comes complete with live music, a drone show, a Bavaria-style German bier festival, DJ sets, and all the usual Ally Pally family-friendly entertainment, including its ice rink. Everything leads up to a stunning firework display in the night sky, set to music and observed from the ideal vantage point.

On the evening before Bonfire Night, Battersea Power Station is inviting visitors to ascend to the top of one of its chimneys with the help of the Lift 109 and bask in the glow of the fireworks London will be setting off. Already a pretty impressive experience on any given day, the viewing platform 109 metres up promises a front-row seat to Battersea Park Fireworks, as well as all the other fireworks show taking place across the city on Saturday and Sunday. You can even order champagne to go with the show.

Taking place across two days, the Wimbledon Park and Morden Park fireworks displays are some of the most popular London fireworks shows. Set to banging music, the musical fireworks displays visit Wimbledon Park on Saturday, followed by Morden Park on Bonfire Night. Both days feature two shows each, an earlier family-friendly show with spellbinding songs with magical themes, and a later one with one-hit wonders.

Every year, Battersea Park hosts the most spectacular fireworks display south of the river. Saturday Bonfire Night features a grand fireworks show and a giant bonfire, along with seasonal food and warming drinks such as mulled wine, while Guy Fawkes Night on Sunday is billed as Family Night, with an earlier start time and plenty of family-friendly activities.

Inhabitants of North West London gather at the Byron Recreation Ground to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night in style each year. Not only does the Harrow Fireworks event include a magnificent 20-minute musical fireworks display in the evening, it also features a full-on funfair with rides, a food court and bar, face painting, and other fun activities for children and adults alike. This year, the event will take place on the Saturday after Bonfire Night.

The venerable Dulwich Sports Club in Dulwich Village annually hosts a traditional fireworks display on the Saturday before Bonfire Night. The family-oriented event starts and ends early, offering a wide assortment of food and drinks to go with the fireworks show. Kid-friendly live music will accompany the event, and kids under 16 can get in for just £1.

Richmond's premier fireworks festival is held at the Athletic Ground near Kew Gardens on the Saturday before Bonfire Night. The highlight of the fun family-friendly event is a fantastic fireworks display choreographed to music. In addition to the spectacular fireworks show, Richmond Family Fireworks 2024 features food and drink vendors, including happy hour at the Richmond Athletic Ground's bars, dance performances, a funfair, and more.

Children-only park and playground Coram's Fields hosts an annual fireworks display that's ideal for children due to its early start time and fun side programme. Taking place on Tuesday 5 November, the Coram's Fields Fireworks 2024 event kicks off at 3.30pm, with the fireworks show starting at 6pm. The event also features performances by local schools, and, best of all, is located in the very heart of the city. The charitable London Bonfire Night show is free to attend, but you can purchase tickets to ensure the best seats in the house and avoid the crowds.

Barnes Bonfire Night, held each year at the Barnes Sports Club, is a well-known Guy Fawkes celebration on account of its Best Guy competition – the winner gets to light the bonfire, and we'd all be lying if we said we didn't have that on our bucket list. Food and drinks are provided, of course, as well as a DJ, live music, and more. Barnes Bonfire Night 2024 takes place on 9 November.

The Beckenham Charity Fireworks display has been part of Guy Fawkes Night celebrations in the local community since as far back as 1946. Held at the Croydon Road Recreation Ground on Saturday 2 November, the event includes both a quieter fireworks display for children and the more mature main display later in the evening. It's accompanied by a funfair and all sorts of food stalls.

The weekend following Bonfire Night, the Walthamstow Cricket, Tennis and Squash club is hosting the sixth annual Stow Fireworks Spectacular on both Saturday and Sunday. Expect two shows each night, a low noise one for kids and a big one with all the effects. The fireworks display comes with all the requisites for a fun family outing – funfair rides, food and drink stalls, and other entertainment.

Taking place at the Scout Park campsite on 2 November, this North London fireworks display draws in families from across the city each year with its friendly atmosphere, brilliant fireworks, bonfire, food stalls, and plenty of other fun activities. The volunteer-run event raises funds to support Scouts in hardship.

Each year, the Walker Ground in Southgate hosts one of North London's biggest fireworks displays in celebration of Guy Fawkes Night, with thousands showing up. Pitch up at the cricket ground on 2 November for an evening of sparkling fireworks, tasty street food, funfair rides, inflatables, and more.

James Dixon Primary School in Crystal Palace hosts an annual fireworks show to raise funds. Taking place on the Saturday following Bonfire Night, the Crystal Palace & Anerley Fireworks take place in a fully-accessible venue and feature various refreshments to accopmany the explosions in the sky.

Set sail on the Sapphire of London from Westminster Pier to Battersea for a family-friendly Bonfire Night celebration, enjoying London's illuminated landmarks and a vibrant atmosphere. The experience begins with a nod to the history of Guy Fawkes, with a hot buffet, drinks, and music from a DJ to keep the party lively. A magician will entertain with jaw-dropping tricks, while popcorn and candy floss are available for kids, leading up to a spectacular fireworks display from a prime viewing spot on the River Thames.
