Shaftesbury Avenue, named after the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, is the heart of London's West End theatre district. On the west side, you'll find several of London's iconic theatres, like the Lyric, Apollo, Gielgud and Sondheim. There's also the Palace Theatre at the intersection between Shaftesbury Avenue and Charing Cross Road, and on the northeastern road, you'll find the Shaftesbury Theatre. It's also the filming location for a short Harry Potter scene when Hermione says, "I used to come to the theatre here with Mum and Dad."
