Björk och Bambu offers a unique restaurant experience in minimalist, harmonious surroundings. Homemade pasta
Italian restaurant Ombra is on Plantagegatan, a little out of the way but still at the heart of things. The little restaurant is almost always full and they make their own homemade pasta. The menu includes pasta, pizza and meat dishes, but Ombra also makes the most of the city's proximity to the sea with plenty of seafood dishes. For rowdy pleasure-seekers
Linné's most normal bar is on Prinsgatan. Or perhaps not. The atmosphere here is often pretty loud and rowdy. Come by for a couple of drinks and tasty grub. Simple is best is the motto at this neo bistro. Grilled sandwiches, fabulous salads and high-quality rustic food are the name of the game, with all kinds of drinks. Bar Normal aims quite simply to be a meeting place for hedonists who live life to the fullest.

Homely and colourful
All the tables at Tant Anton i Stan have their own style and feel, and the dining concept is along the same lines. They offer an exciting mix of smaller dishes for sharing - but they don't want to call them tapas or meze, they're simply called sharing dishes. Come by for a cosy dinner, a relaxed post-work drink or weekend lunch. The drinks menu includes beer and wine, as well as several fabulous cocktails. The outdoor dining area can also be enjoyed all year round.

Good-value vegetarian with prime location
During the summer months, Hagabion's Café, part of Hagabion cinema, is one of the city's most popular outdoor seating areas. Guests have an excellent vantage spot over Prinsgatan and the coloured lanterns hanging overhead give off cool Berlin vibes. The kitchen creates vegetarian versions of classic Swedish homecooking dishes, regarded by many as the best and best value in the area. During the colder months they move inside into small, cosy rooms on the first floor of the cinema building.

Unpretentious yet ambitious French bistro
Many would describe this little bistro on Olivedalsgatan as small but seriously delicious. Bistro Odette has 18 covers and if you want to guarantee a seat, booking is definitely recommended. Intimate and homely are the keywords here; the owner couple do everything themselves in the restaurant and make sure all guests feel right at home. Odette is inspired by Paris in the most unpretentious ways; the menu is short and classically French, ingredients are carefully selected and the wine list is extensive.

Burgers from scratch
At DINÉ Burgers they serve hamburgers made from scratch from Swedish ingredients. Meat is ground on site every day, burger buns are baked at a local bakery and the dressing is made to their own recipe. The decor flirts with classic American diner style, but with an industrial twist. There's also a classic bar here with an emphasis on beer.

Gothenburg institution with hearty Czech food
Gyllene Prag is a true Gothenburg institution. Long before Linnéstan became the foodie mecca it is today - in 1973 to be precise - this Czech restaurant opened its doors, becoming one of Linné's two restaurants. Much has happened since then, but their legendary fried cheese is still served in the same way. Beer, homemade Eastern European food in hearty portions and a warm, welcoming atmosphere are the order of the day.

A potpourri of pintxos
At this little wine and pintxos bar, whose name means mixture, it's all about wild assortments. The menu consists of a wide range of pintxos where influences from Spain, Italy and the Middle East mix freely. The wine selection is extensive and includes several natural wines, and if you're in the mood for beer there are plenty of optons, always served as cañas, in small glasses in classic Basque style.
