The National Restaurant Awards 2024 took place in Greenwich on 10th June, with restaurants up and down the country being recognised for their achievements. The awards unveiled a list of the 100 best restaurants in the UK, as well as individual awards, and it's a London restaurant that came out on top.
The Ledbury, established by Australian chef Brett Graham, was placed at number one in the top 100 restaurants in the UK. It was also crowned the Best Restaurant in England, as well as being named National Restaurant of the Year. Whilst the chef might be from Australia, the food is a celebration of British produce and the spoils of the countryside. The fine dining tasting menus served here have already earned the venue a whopping three Michelin stars. The restaurant was noted for the down-to-earth nature of its cooking, as well as the striking presentation of each dish.
The Ledbury wasn't the only restaurant in London to do well at this year's awards. London venues dominated the top 10 list, with Mountain, Bouchon Racine, Kiln, Da Terra, The Devonshire, and Ikoyi all making an appearance. The Devonshire was also crowned Gastropub of the Year and Opening of the Year. Adejoké Bakare of West African restaurant Chishuru was awarded Chef of the Year with Ayo Adeyemi of Akoko, another West African restaurant, crowned as the Chef to Watch. Trivet and The Dover received awards for their drinks lists. See all of the winners and the entire top 100 rankings on the National Restaurant Awards website.
