What a GEM have I recently found on Frjegatan, WOW! I happened to see an ad on instagram there when I saw how good their semlor looked during "making" and I decided to go all the way from the north town on Saturday.
Background: The bakery has existed for 100 years in the same premises that was called Stina's bakery (previously). A year ago, the new owner took over the bakery and turned some into a cozy café' while the bakery stands in its place and fresh bread, buns and coffee bread are baked on the site, around the clock!
Popular bread is utö bread (archipelago) and light bread. Many regulars and those who live nearby shop here. However, there is some space to sit inside but there are some away outside too if you want to sit outside the café. Dock Cafe is located in the middle of the city but still geographically it is located in much quieter and nicer neighborhoods.
Coffee/Breakfast selection: There is so much to choose from when it comes to fresh baked bread and buns. There are also sandwiches and smoothhies/juices but if I'm only going to talk about goodies like tosca bits, tosca buns, croissants, regular swedish buns etc, chocolate based bits etc, then there's plenty of everything here.
Semla: Like their tosca buns/pieces, the semla is quite high on the popular list. I loved their semla. Good consistency on the cream, good amount of almond paste with a lot of chopped, moderately toasted almonds.... WOW! If you love to eat semla with a really good amount of almond paste with real almonds then you should probably visit this place for the season semla.
Staff: Really nice, humble, calm and service-oriented!
Highly recommended!
