Shopping areas

Södermalm

Take a stroll along Götgatsbacken - heavily populated by shops and cafes. For vintage shopping, try the SoFo area - head towards Skånegatan and uber-trendy Nytorget. Take a detour onto Östgötagatan, or Åsögatan to really get a feel for the neighbourhood. Be sure to check out the popular Bruno Gallerian and other independent boutiques.

Östermalm

Work your way down from Östermalmstorg towards Humlegårdsgatan and then browse your way through Sturegallerian before finishing off at Stureplan. Birger Jarlsgatan and Biblioteksgatan house many prominent international labels alongside local designers. Make a pit stop at NK and you will have seen most of what the area has to offer.

In the midst of the bustling city, this department store offers a wide variety of quintessentially Swedish brands like Acne, Tiger, Filippa K and Whyred. Be sure to check out their extensive shoe department or peruse the accessories, makeup and denim offerings. While they are famous for their own brand of home furnishings and kitchen accessories, you will also find the Japanese brand Muji here. Scandinavia's largest shopping destination

Fashion, beauty, sport, interiors, restaurants, Sweden's first IMAX cinema...The gigantic Mall of Scandinavia in Solna has all this and more. You can spend an entire day here shopping, eating, running errands and hanging out. The mall opened in 2015 and is a world class shopping destination.

Gallerian went through an extensive renovation and facelift in 2018/2019, with new store concepts and exciting restaurants. You'll find the beauty chain Kick's 1500 square metre flagship store here, as well as many other clothes shops and accessories.

This popular boutique carries the latest in contemporary design, with emphasis on Scandinavian fashion labels. Designers such as Carin Wester, Minimarket, Sandqvist, Rodebjer and Hope decorate the hangers. There is also an extensive collection of hats and accessories, as well as home decor.

Aplace

Scandinavian fashion at its finest

Aplace is another hip concept store providing customers with the latest looks from designers such as Henrik Vibskov, Wood Wood, Rodebjer, Carin Wester, Acne and Stine Goya. Choose from an exciting array of sneakers, or dressier versions from ATP Atelier and Reschia, to name a few. The flagship store is located at Norrlandsgatan.

Originally located in Gamla Stan, this popular shopping destination is now located at Krukmakargatan. A flawless concept store, selling a carefully curated selection of men's and womenswear. Expect to find labels such as Isabel Marant, APC, Helmut Lang, Aspesi and Stone Island.

Arket

Nordic minimalism

With Arket, H&M has created a mini "department store" with wearable clothes, interiors objects and a Scandinavian café all under the same roof. Combine Arket's own clothes with, for example, Birkenstock and the other brands they stock.

H&M's slightly more pared-back and minimalist concept brand on Biblioteksgatan. You'll find a wide range of simple wardrobe essentials, as well as clothes with slightly more detail, made from good quality fabrics.

Uniqlo

Japanese clothing giants

The Japanese clothes chain opened its first Swedish branch to great fanfare in 2018 in a vast store right next door to Kungsträdgården in the city centre. They stock all the popular wardrobe basics for which they're famous, from t-shirts to thin down jackets, for both adults and children.

Eytys

Shoes from Stockholm

The Swedish shoe brand Eytys was founded in 2012 and quickly achieved international success. They're best known for their obligatory unisex sneakers, but they also stock other shoe models and clothes inspired by Eighties and Nineties aesthetics. You'll find their Stockholm store on Norrlandsgåtan.

Danish design

The Danish brand Samsøe & Samsøe is famous for easy-to-wear clothes, shoes and accessories for men and women. Scandinavian minimalism goes hand in hand with inspiration from Copenhagen's individual style.

This uber-popular store on Biblioteksgatan has two floors filled with own-brand fashion. You can put together an entire wardrobe here with collections designed in Paris, Stockholm and Los Angeles. Budget friendly and trendy

Monki is popular for their poppy, wallet-friendly fashion. It's easy to experiment with style here and shop for both both wardrobe basics and trendier, more eye-catching clothes. The brand has several outlets, but the one on Götgatsbacken is their best known.

Ganni

Colourful

Forget Scandinavian minimalism - the Danish brand Ganni is easily recognisable for their colourful clothes and their distinctive tailoring. They opened their first physical store in Stockholm in 2019 on Norrlandsgatan, in Aplace's old premises.

Judits Second Hand

Vintage veteran

If you're after a slightly more edited collection of vintage and secondhand clothes, Judits Second Hand is a popular option. Their store on Hornsgatan in Södermalm stocks clothes, shoes and accessories from many well-known designers and brands.

 

Second-hand success story

Fashion and environmentally-conscious Stockholmers flock to Arkivet to bag second-hand bargains. Since they opened their first store near Odenplan, their customer base has grown and grown and they now have a second store in Östermalm. They sell clothes, shoes and accessories on commission, and they only accept nearly new items in good condition.
