The best glamping spots around Stockholm

Leave your everyday life and the big city behind you and head for Bullandö Marina, where you can book glamping in beautiful archipelago surroundings with Igloo Escape. Their igloos have all-round panoramic windows, meaning you can enjoy both sunsets and sunrises. For dinner you can grill on your terrace, or head for the marina restaurant. There's also a sauna nearby and if you're feeling adventurous you can rent kayaks and SUPs. 

Six canvas tents (Number 4 is larger, perfect for families), complete with wood-burning stoves, sit on platforms looking out over the outer archipelago. A breakfast basket is brought to your tent in the morning. This summer season 2022, guests are provided with dinner ingredients which they can cook themselves on a Muurikka griddle pan by their tent.

Take the ferry out to Svartsö, a 1,5-2 hr boat ride from Nybrokajen and, after a five-course dinner at Svartsö Krog, you can bed down in one of four sea-facing canvas tents. As well as seven hotel rooms, this charming bed and breakfast outside Trosa has three glamping tents open in the summer months. The tents have outdoor wooden decks overlooking Lake Sillen. The price includes a pre-dinner drink, three-course dinner and breakfast buffet, along with access to the hot tub and floating sauna.

Seven specially-designed tents on a private island outside Vaxholm provide an exclusive archipelago experience perfect for small groups and corporate events. Gourmet meals are served in a separate dining tent, safari-style, and there's a hot tub and floating sauna guests can use. Activities including firewalking, seal safaris and sea kayaking can also be arranged.

Sälstationen, "the seal station", on the island of Gålö in the archipelago has a fascinating history and beautiful natural surroundings. In summer 2020 they added a comfortable 20 square metre glamping tent to the cabin accommodation options. The private wooden deck in front of the tent has views over the seal enclosures and the waters of Långgarnsfjärden. The tent has two beds and space for two extra beds. Enjoy the baskets full of vegetarian goodies for breakfast and dinner (which you cook yourself on a Muurikka griddle pan), and spend your days cycling or stand-up paddleboarding around the island.

Gyllene Brunnen, near Enköping an hour outside Stockholm, is a wedding venue and glamping spot in the heart of the countryside. The farm has five comfy canvas tents set up in a meadow, with shared bathroom facilities in a separate building. Gather a group of friends (minimum 6) and experience the delights of the great outdoors complete with creature comforts.

Idöborg's tent-like glamping cabins have magnificent views of the sea and the sunset, and the beach just a few metres away. The privately owned archipelago island is located only an hour's boat ride from central Stockholm, and as well as accommodation, it offers a summer restaurant, relaxation in a wood-burning sauna and activities such as kayaking. The glamping cabins are set up from May to October, and the stay includes a three-course dinner, breakfast buffet and sauna.
