Sturebadet Marina Tower offers both physical exercise and mental relaxation. Their large gym has weight-training equipment, free weights, step machines, rowing machines, cycling machines, crosstrainers and running machines. If you want to relax after your workout, there's a whole spa area with saunas. jacuzzis and a Turkish hamam. You can also join group exercise sessions such as aqua aerobics and hamam yoga.

Pro Gym

One of Stockholm's oldest gyms

ProGym on Medborgarplatsen is one of Stockholm's oldest gyms and was founded in 1982. There's a huge selection of weights and machines here. Plenty of ordinary Södermalm locals use the gym, but also a large number of professional bodybuilders. Lots of gym newbies worry about having to go to the gym in full make up and snazzy, brand-new workout gear but at ProGym you can turn up just as you without anyone batting an eyelid, which isn't necessarily the case at some of the more exclusive gyms.

Gym for women

A family-owned gym in Södermalm, just for women of all ages. Strength train, take part in bootcamps and join fitness holidays with a health focus. Train in the gym, with the help of a personal trainer or take part in a group training session.

Fresh, clean and personal

A bright and personal gym which offers everything from classic weight lifting to various group classes such as HIIT, circuit training and yoga, as well as personal training. The gym has a chiropractor who offers various treatments.

Barry's Bootcamp

From Hollywood

Barrys was founded in West Hollywood in 1998 and since then they've become a world-famous traning concept. You'll find their bootcamps in New York, Miami, London, Dubai and Stockholm. Their concept is based on niche training studios which focus on community and lifestyle, in addition to training itself. Training is based on group training and the 60 minute session is divided equally between strength and interval training, in nightclub-inspired surroundings.

Intensive interval training

Raise the bar at Intense with intensive interval training sessions which provide both weight training and cardio. Come and go as you like, as sessions begin every ten minutes. In a 40-minute period you'll work out at four different stations, while at the same time recharging energy with the biocentric light, which provides the same health benefits as daylight.

The largest gym chain in Scandinavia, Sats is great option if you want to be able to work out almost anywhere. The choice is broad - many people use Sats for their yoga and personal training classes, and if you're interested in outdoor training you can take part in their running classes and bootcamps. Actic has several branches outside the city centre and offers a wide range of both strength and conditioning training options. Eriksdalsbadet in Skanstull is one of Stockholm's council-run swimming and sports facilities where a work out will cost you less than at a private gym. It includes a modern gym with hundreds of machines, as well as free weights and other equipment. The gym has instructors and also offers masses of group classes, from bodypump to yoga.
