Södermalm-based pub brewery and taproom.

The lack of pub breweries in Stockholm inspired British-born Steve Leighton to open Ölkemi, a taproom and nanobrewery where they're passionate about beer. Small-scale craft beer meets playfulness and innovation here, in surroundings that welcome beer enthusiasts and newcomers alike. 

Ölkemi, on a cross street to Ringvägen, is as much a taproom and bar as a nanobrewery. A genuine love of beer permeates the entire business, with some unusual and fun varieties - often with a slightly lower alcohol content, so that you can enjoy a full pint without getting too tipsy. The selection includes everything from IPAs to stouts and lagers, both from their own brewery and from selected producers in Great Britain, Belgium and other beer-savvy countries. Guests who don't share this passion for the foamy favourite can choose from cocktails and wine from small-scale suppliers.

Food-wise, flatbread pizza takes centre stage, as well as rustic dishes with influences from British pub grub. The idea is that you should be able to drop by and just unwind with a beer after work, as well as enjoying dinner or perhaps a proper Sunday lunch. Regular beer tastings are also organised. 

Ölkemi's premises have – appropriately enough – previously been both a restaurant and a brewery. Today, the locale, which also houses its sister business Ölkemi Coffee, is decorated with red-painted walls, patterned wallpaper and a red-and-white checkered floor, and through an industrial wall facing the brewery section, you can watch the beer production in real time.
