A gastronomic and cultural journey through East and West Africa
Afrika Sthlm has brought East and West African food culture to Slakthusområdet - Stockholm's former meatpacking district - in southern Stockholm, with the aim of creating a place where people can come together over food, drink, music and art. Eat lunch and dinner in colourful surroundings, or come by to drink cocktails and dance to music played by DJs.
Culinary influences at Afrika Sthlm come mainly from Ethiopia, but elements from Kenya, Eritrea, Ghana, Senegal and Nigeria can also be found on the menu. At lunchtime, they serve a selection of regularly changing main courses, so that even the most frequent regular can try new flavours. In the evenings, they serve an à la carte menu filled with authentic dishes, often with a slightly modern touch. Meat, chicken and vegetarian options are represented, and for the youngest guests, there's a special children's menu.
Colourful interior design with murals in the form of a savannah and other African-inspired motifs reinforce the warm feeling in the restaurant. Colourful patterns and art by temporary exhibitors combine with natural materials and more pared-down elements. In the summer, an outdoor terrace opens with plenty of space to enjoy food and drinks under the open sky.
You can also visit Afrika Sthlm to have a drink at the bar, which offers both cocktails and beer. Towards the weekend, the atmosphere gets extra lively when DJs spin the decks and the area around the bar transforms into a dance floor.
Afrika Sthlm also offers catering, and the restaurant can be rented out for private events and parties.
