With an emphasis on top-quality ingredients and a wide selection of wines and cocktails, brothers Aleksander and Filip run this Spanish restaurant with traditional dishes from their home country. Aleks y Filip is in the heart of Södermalm, a stone's throw from Södra Station.
You'll find Aleks y Filip next to Rosenlund park, close to Mariatorget and Hornsgatan. But this is no tapas restaurant - traditional Spanish dishes cooked and eaten just as they are in Spain are the order of the day here.
The menu consists of charcuterie, tortilla, grilled octopus from Galicia, rack of lamb and steak tartare, all served from the open kitchen. Pair your meal with cocktails such as Negroni Rosado, Kalle Mucho and Piña Sangria. If you prefer wine there's a generous wine list to choose from, or ask for a recommendation. The air-dried Cecina de Leon beef for starters was so tender it could be thought of as broken, taste-wise an implosion of umami, nuttiness and grassy fat. The octopus must belong to the absolute top tier internationally and could win prize in the octopus's main town on Earth, Japan. Butter on the verge of disintegrating, at the same time resilient and with crispy touches, the taste a completely congenial mix of sooty heat and dandruff umami. The sweet potato puree fluffy, coquettish and buttery - an absolutely incomparable dish. Impressive wine list with many odd wines, fantastically nice, attentive and knowledgeable staff. 10 stars out of 5!
