Me and my company arrived at the boathouse first of all the guests this evening. The first impression was that it was a damn cool little building floating on the water. The fact that the "boat" looked a little bit weathered only made it look even nicer.
When we came in, we were nicely referred to our table. It was as nice on the inside as it was on the outside of the room. We get the menus and place our order. One thing I notice while we're doing it is that the serving staff chew gum very clearly. Maybe I'm sensitive, but at least I wouldn't have done it if I was working in a service profession like this.
First bring in bleak roe with tart and crispy potatoes with pickled red onion and dill. To that a glass of the white of the house. Very good starter where the salt from the vendace roe fit perfectly with the rest of the dish. However, the staff failed to pour water, which we had to say about.
The main course consisted of halibut and baked pilgrim mousseline served with pickled & roasted pumpkin and red wine sauce with a taste of seafood. The fish was a little too salty for my taste, but rather that than tasteless, which has often happened in restaurants. However, it felt like there was way too much stuff on the plate, which made it a bit messy when you were going to eat.
The dessert consisted of freshly fried doughnut with parfait and curd on autumn raspberries that was perfectly okay.
With a service that was like that and a main course that wasn't convinced, the grade will be no more than a three. Please note that for that reason it was not bad, but I expect more in the price range of the restaurant. I'm sorry because I was really hoping for this restaurant.
