Chelas

Had a summer evening here that was really 10 points! Why it still doesn't get more than 3 (weak 4) is because the food unfortunately lacks something. First we ate guacamole, esquites (corn mix) and nachos (i.e. real nachos), incredibly good! For that we ordered a jug of spicy margaritha which was incredible!! SO good, but very spicy. Unfortunately, it didn't get any better than with the snacks. Ate 3 different tacos, the fish was good but not wow, the carnitas were okay but lacked sting. The best was flank fried tacos that were served in a marrow bone.
I drank a Chilean riesling that was delicious, and a pinot noir that was also good. Not so typical of the grape, but lovely you can tell that it is not old world. Rarely drinks Chilean wines, nice surprise!
Finally we ordered dessert, some kind of cake that I don't remember the name of. It was okay no favorite, tasted a bit like wet sponge cake. The espresso martini on the other hand what a hit!
I don't know if I would have gotten the same feeling of Chelas if it wasn't summer and you sat indoors, but to start at the sister wine bar opposite with a glass of incredible Chilean rose wine and then walk across the street and sit outside on a July evening in the sun at Chelas was a very lovely experience! Our waiter was fantastically nice and also the owner was very nice and came out and conversed.
Will definitely be back before the summer is over!
