Hellstens Glashus opened in 2016 in an old glassworks at Mariatorget. The outside – a narrow glass facade on six floors – is hard to miss. The street-level restaurant and bar have seven-metre ceilings and are full of New York vibes and inspiration from the owner and ethnographer Per Hellsten. The brick walls remain from the old workshop, and the space is a mix of stripped-down industrial furniture, leather armchairs, personal souvenirs and an ornate bar.
The menu features classic dishes from both near and far in the traditional format with a starter, main course and dessert as well as snacks, and at the bar you can sip on a beer, a glass of wine, some bubbly or a drink. Not least, this is a place for post-work drinkers who want to chill at the bar or in their own armchair.
