At Hongkist next to Stureplan, classic dishes from China and Thailand are served in modern, pared-back surroundings. Eat crispy duck and other Asian specialties among black industrial lamps and cool kitsch.
Since Hongkist moved into Hung Fook's old premises on Linnégatan, the interior has received a major facelift. Traditional Asian dishes are combined with an industrial style that's rarely seen in the city's Asian restaurants. Simple wooden tables and black designer chairs are framed by high white walls, black ceilings and the occasional splash of colour in the form of kitschy picture motifs. The venue also houses a bar that gives the feeling of recycled wood and is filled with beer, wine and drinks.
The restaurant's focus is on Chinese and Thai cuisine, and the food is presented with the same simplicity as the decor. On the menu you'll find obligatory dishes such as spring rolls, fried chicken, crispy duck, wok and flavours from the Szechuan food region of China. If you're craving Peking duck, you should plan ahead - the meal must be ordered two days in advance. But there's also Japanese yakiniku, grilled shredded meat served on a hot cast iron plate.
Hongkist also has an extensive takeaway menu if you'd rather get your food to-go. You can find everything from stir-fries and soups to classic starters and main courses, as well as three small dishes. During the summer months there's a small pavement dining area.
