We have categorised Kasai as:
- Cocktail bar
Kasai, which has branches in Visby and Malmö as well as Stockholm, is a Japanese dinner club with an emphasis on social dinners with Asian flavours. In addition to food, which consists of everything from izakaya and modern interpretations of traditional Japanese dishes to grilled dishes and sushi, Kasai also serves expertly blended cocktails in the buzzy cocktail bar.
Kasai, which means fire in Japanese, is on Linnégatan, a stone's throw from Östermalmstorg and Stureplan. Since opening in 2016, the restaurant has been drawing in faithful regulars and tourists alike. This restaurant, cocktail lounge, dinner club and Japanese garden is the realisation of owner Paulo Fagundez's long-held dream and over the years it has expanded to three branches around Sweden.
Inspiration for Kasai comes from other similar concepts in major cities such as London, New York and Dubai. Serving cocktails and Japanese fusion dishes in stylish surroundings with a lively atmosphere is the order of the day here. The menu consists of everything from sushi and sashimi to Japanese grilled dishes from the robata bar and creative interpretations from the restaurant's izakaya (Japanese food counter). The broad menu includes, for example, baos, bowls, rolls, skewers, fresh fish and fresh vegetables.
As well being as a flavour-packed gastronomic experience, Kasai is a place for entertainment. The aim is for guests to forget their everyday lives for a while as soon as they walk through the door, whether it's for a family brunch, post-work drink or big night out with friends. Their private dining room, Lotus Room, has space for up to 15 people and you can book and arrange large events and celebrations in the Japanese garden, their lush inner courtyard.
At Kasai they live for good food, drinks, music, beautiful surroundings and entertainment - and for sharing all this with everyone.
Pleasantly surprised by Kasai after a very successful visit last night! The service was the best I have had in a long time. At first glance at the menu, it looked very expensive, I thought you'd eat 3-4 dishes per person, but we were recommended to share 4 courses (2 pers) and it was perfect and then it suddenly became cheap instead (about 300 per person for the food). We ate shrimp Tempura seasonal first type, cruelly good. Since a special sashimi, also good. Followed up with shortribs, which was a pretty big right, also good. Finished with a makirulle that was almost great. A nice little dessert I took as well. Beautiful heart rate on the spot. Look forward to coming back.
Update dec-16: been here again, and the impressions were essentially identical. Further tested a bunch of dishes.
Update Oct-17: be here at brunch a week late, which I thought was awesome. The menu is reminiscent of the dinner menu, but a little smaller and with some brunch spots. Since we had a little bigger dinner here last Friday that was cruel nice. About Savoy cabbage that was marinated in something. It was probably the most delicious vegetarian dish I've eaten. Food wise, the most I received very good, but not very many dishes is wow. I.e. 4 out of 5. But the rest is 5 out of 5, and I've really enjoyed nice every time I been here, so I raise up grade to a weak 5th!
Update nov-17: been here for dinner again and really think it is great in every way. Good service, great atmosphere, good drinks, and really good food. Absolutely cannot understand the criticism they received for the food.

Här kan du ha en helkväll!
Jag var här på födelsedagsfirande - vi var 65 personer och fick plats på en uppvärmd uteservering (tror jag?). Värmelampor igång, egen bar och bra med utrymme så vi fick alla plats!

My God what a joke.
The place is neat. The waitresses are cute and sweet.
That ´ 's it.
The show on the ground floor is lame. Mostly because it lasts for 2 minutes otherwise, well the actors are talented-ish.
The food is a brutal insult. Expensive tasting menu where they s...
