Plais

The name Plais comes from the French word “plaisir”, which means pleasure, or enjoyment. Pleasure, along with sustainability, is the watchword at this neighbourhood restaurant on Mariatorget in central Södermalm. Creative dishes based on French cuisine are the order of the day here, carefully prepared using Swedish ingredients. 

Stockholmers and visitors alike can now enjoy French-inspired food combined with an exciting drinks selection in a former crispbread bakery on Hogbergsgatan. Plais' menu includes everything from snacks and starters to main courses and desserts. Several of the dishes are plant-based and they use local produce wherever possible. 

The extensive wine list revolves primarily around Europe, with a few wines from other parts of the world. You'll also find several cocktails, mainly based on Swedish spirits, such as gin from  Stockholms Bränneri, as well as various beers and apple ciders.

Plais aims to create a welcoming meeting place in Södermalm, where there's always something fun going on. One popular element is Tavlan - the blackboard - where the kitchen writes up all the exciting, creative things they've got going on each day. This could be anything from seasonal dishes and wine recommendations, to new cocktails and theme evenings. Once a fortnight they hold a music quiz, and the restaurant regularly has a “Tuesday guest appearance”, from an inspiring guest chef who presents and serves a special menu. 

Drop by for a glass of something and a few snacks, or spend a whole evening here with a slap-up dinner. You don't need to leave your four-legged friend at home, as Pais welcomes well-behaved doggies.
