The best golf courses in Stockholm

Bro Hof Slott

Top ranked

Bro Hof Castle is beautifully situated by Lake Mälaren in Upplands-Bro northwest of Stockholm. The club has two courses, The Castle Course and The Stadium Course. The latter was named Scandinavia's best golf course by the magazine Golf Digest in 2016 and has played host to the Nordea Masters. The other course is also world class, with similarities to Scottish links courses, challenging rough areas and tough bunkers.

Ullna GC

Upgraded classic

You'll find Ullna Golf Club directly north of Stockholm by Lake Ullna in Åkersberga. The course was opened in 1981 and was the fulfillment of Swedish sports icon Sven Tumba's lifelong dream. He wanted to give more people the chance to play golf on a world class course. Ullna was re-inaugurated in 2013 after an upgrade by Jack Nicklaus. The course is now ultra modern, but still beautifully surrounded by soft hills and the glittering waters of Lake Ullna.

Kungliga Drottningholms GK

On historic ground

Royal Drottningholms Golf Club's 18 holes are laid out on crown property a stone's throw from Drottningholm Palace on the island of Lovön just outside Stockholm. The club was founded in 1958 and since then it's had a good reputation and arranged numerous major international competitions. Play on historic ground surrounded by park, woodland and the calm waters of Lake Mälaren.

Mälarö GK Skytteholm

Long season

If you continue past Lovön on towards Ekerö you'll get to Mälarö, the home of Mälarö GK Skytteholm. An open 27 hole links-style course with rough-edged bunkers and plenty of wind. The club boasts an unusually long season and if you need accommodation, Skytteholms Herrgård, a 17th century manor house hotel, is right next door.

Fågelbro Golf & Country Club

Varied play in archipelago surroundings

Fågelbro Golf & Country Club is set in beautiful natural surroundings on the island of Värmdö. Golfers will find a well-tended and varied course with both park and wooded areas in a glorious archipelago setting. The club offers a range of other activities, including tennis and riding, and there's a restaurant where you can eat both lunch and dinner.

Österåkers GK

Excellent training facilities

Österåker's courses are moorland courses; the 18-hole course Västerled is a distinctive championship course famous for its difficulty while Österled is slightly more forgiving but still challenging. The club is known for its excellent training facilities, which make it easy to develop the areas you want and play a better game out on the course.

Lidingö GK

A few minutes from the city centre

Lidingö boasts Sweden's oldest 18-hole course from 1927 - but almost 100 years later Lidingö Golf Club is still a modern, top class golf facilitiy to reckon with. Its beautiful location, just 15 minutes by car from central Stockholm, makes the club an attractive option close to the city.

Vidbynäs Golf Club

Wild, beautiful course

If you drive south on the E20 and go past Södertälje you'll get to Nykvarn. There you'll find Vidbynäs Golf which, together with Kallfors, makes up Golf South Sthlm. Both facilities aim to provide southern Stockholm's best and most reasonable golf experience - for everyone. Vidbynäs South Course is an open course in wild, beautiful nature where the 18th hole has been named one of Sweden's best final holes. Skogsbanan, the North Course, is also a challenging experience.

Kallfors Golf

Popular 9 hole course

Vidbynäs' sister course is a little further south towards Järna. A well-loved 18 hold course with beautiful views and strategic challenges, as well as a popular 9 hole course. Here, just as at Vidbynäs, they aim to provide plenty of golf for your money and, as well as the golf itself, there's accommodation, a restaurant and shop on-site.

Kungsängen GC

Challenging for all ability levels

Kungsängen Golf Club is around a half hour drive northwest of the city. The club's history goes back to the Eighties and they now have two 18 hole courses. Both courses are challenging but can be played by both amateurs and professional players as there is a large distance between the forward and back tees at most of the holes.

Arlandastad GK

Exemplary championship course

As a member of Arlandastad Golf you have access to six different course - but the biggest draw is the jewel in their crown - the Masters course. This championship course has played host to several major competitions and, according to the elite players who have played it, the course has been developed to top international level.

Täby GK

Created from nature

Täby Golf Club's course was designed to blend in with its natural surroundings. When the club was founded in the late Sixties, they decided to build a course that made the most of its beautiful setting on the west side of Lake Vallentuna, with undulating areas and challenging putts.

Salems GK

Well-kept courses

Salems Golfklubb is situated around 40 minutes drive south of the city and is surrounded by an area with a rich cultural heritage. The 18 hole Salembanan course is top class and very varied. There's also 9 hole course, Högantorpsbanan. The club aims to become one of the leading golf clubs in Sweden and to achieve that goal they work hard to maintain top quality courses and pre- and post-golf activities of the same high standard.

Bro-Bålsta GK

Inspired by British courses

You could say that Bro-Bålsta golf course is a tribute to classic British golf courses - adapted to suit the Nordic climate. A round of golf that's as much a walk in beautiful natural surroundings as a sporting experience. The 18 and 9 hole courses provide challenging putts thanks to their soft but undulating landscape.

Saltsjöbadens GK

Attractive club in woodlands

Along with Lidingö, Saltsjöbadens Golf Club is high up on the list of Stockholm's oldest clubs. The first golf clubs were swung here back in 1929 and it's still a popular and attractive club today. Its location, in beautiful woodlands leading out to the archipelago, is naturally a major plus but the courses and their excellent facilities and service also bring many golf lovers here.

Stockholms GK

Golf in the big city

Just 20 minutes from the inner city, Stockholm Golf Club is situated by Edsvikens strand, just below Mörby centrum in Danderyd. This historic course has many years under its belt; Kevingebanan was laid out back in 1932, inspired by classic British park courses. As Stockholm has grown, the city has grown up around the course which used to be surrounded by peaceful green surroundings - a unique opportunity to play some skilfull (if rather cautious) golf with skyscrapers in the distance.

Svartinge Golf Club

Tranquil oasis

A short detour off the E4 motorway heading north, you'll find Svartinge Golf Club in Sollentuna. Once you arrive at the club, the motorway and city centre feel a million miles from Svartinge's peaceful natural surroundings. Svartinge aims to provide the sanctuary a wonderful golfing experience combined with idyllic nature, professional service and a relaxed atmosphere can give. Traditional rules of conduct, consideration and respect are valued highly here.
