The best places to eat brunch outside the city centre

Göteborg restaurant in Hammarby Sjöstad serves an à la carte menu based around Swedish classics. Choose from everything from Toast Skagen to cheeseburgers and shellfish stew. Sit in the glassed-in veranda or eat al fresco on the jetty during the summer months.

For a relaxing à la carte brunch on the waterfront, head to Restaurang J in Nacka Strand. The menu combines large and small brunch classics from both sides of the Atlantic. Add a decadent dessert and perhaps a cocktail. 

Tuck into meat, vegetables, sauces and smoky barbeque. Steninge Bruk is housed in a converted barn building which is home to Sweden's largest wood barbeque, and the choice of dishes includes something for all the family. SQ, just a short detour by commuter boat or bus from the city, offers a waterfront dining experience with a view of the entrance to Stockholm harbour. Every weekend, they serve a jazz brunch with all the classic dishes you'd expect from a proper brunch. Think pancakes, burgers, Eggs Benedict, and of course, mimosas and other brunch cocktail. In the summer, you can also enjoy the sun out on the terrace.

At Asplund close to Pampas Marina you can tuck into a popular Saturday buffet with flavours from all over the world. They serve freshly-baked pizza, as well as salads, pancakes and dessert. The restaurant is housed in a listed building in the Ingenting area. 

Urban Deli, which has branches both inside and outside the city centre, is a popular meeting place for Stockholm's brunch enthusiasts. At their Sickla branch they serve a luxurious à la carte every weekend with influences from around the world. If you like fish and seafood, you won't be disappointed, but there are also vegetarian dishes as well as meat dishes on the menu. Be sure to pick up something nice from the deli for dinner.

Golfbaren in Sundbyberg serves up a “brunch without end” every Saturday. Choose from American pancakes, donuts, bagels and pizza, washed down with drinks such as mimosas, Bloody Marys and coffee cocktails at great value prices.

Take an outing to Värmdö and tuck into the brunch buffet Artipelag Restaurang lays out in Artipelag art gallery. The buffet includes everything from hot dishes and salads to a decadent dessert table. There's also bread baked in Artipelag's own bakery. While you're here, take a stroll in the beautiful archipelago surroundings. 

A short journey by tube, commuter train or tram will take you to Sundbyberg, where Eatery Garden serves up a weekend brunch in a homely setting. Treat yourself to a brunch cocktail if you really want to celebrate the weekend. 

Take a trip out to Jungfrusund on Ekerö and enjoy brunch with views over the harbour. Restaurant Jungfrusund is open all year round and makes a charming outing in both winter and summer. Extend your visit with a round of mini golf if you're in the mood and the weather's kind.

Family-owned Mr.B & Me in Sundbyberg serves dishes that the chefs themselves like. With influences from different parts of the world, they've put together an international brunch menu with dishes such as Spanish omelette, schnitzel and lots of drinks options.
