The large, orange (or is it orange or more rust-colored) building located at the intersection of Sveavägen/Odengatan - right near Odenplan, is the Stockholm City Library. And a very nice one. It was designed by Gunnas Asplund and opened in 1928.

I think libraries are absolutely fantastic. Reading should not be a matter of finances and I think it is incredibly important to have free access to literature throughout your life. However, it is far from all libraries that are as nice as the City Library. Is there even anything else in Stockholm that can approach this?

Getting up and into the large round Rotunda, the Great Hall, is a special feeling. The enormous ceiling height, all lined up books on several floors in the curved bookshelves. That's a wow! It's a room to love. Something powerful about it. In addition, it becomes even more powerful from all the whispers, because if you raise your voice in the slightest, it echoes strongly in the hall.

They also have, of course, an absolutely fantastic selection of books and here you can spend a lot of time browsing among the titles.
Well worth getting into even if you don't plan to borrow books!
